Botanical Drawings at the Healers Guild

Despite my young, slim and spritely appearance (ahem!) it is often the games of skill and intellect that interest me at the GEF. I was delighted to see Nephri had organised a botanical drawing competition at the Healers Guild and I couldn’t resist taking part. I was amazed at the standard of work my fellow artists had submitted and flattered that my work was appreciated when standing among such fine pieces.

The Healers Guild Structure.

Many things have changed many times within the Healers Guild over the last few years but there has been a constant presence there striving to make improvements. Crymson has long worked to deal with curses and provide assistance to those in need. This year he stepped up as Lifemaster and together with Bastion has made constant improvements to the guild area. Before the arrival and opening of the guild for the day I sat beneath the entrance canopy and looked for a subject to commit to my book to capture the current stability within the guild. Beside a lantern was a parchment listing the roles within the guild. I took a moment or two to jot it down.

The Source of Life

Early on the Friday evening of the summer moot I wandered from the Wolf camp to the guild area. As I approached Knight Marshal R'vesh called to me and urged me to attend the Healer Guild as The Source of Life herself had turned up to speak with the Lifemasters. Much as I wanted to say hello & pay my respects, her time was limited & I had to settle for committing her image to memory & sketching her later.

The Grimoire of Knowledge.

As the Bards Guild began getting ready for their day I noticed the Grimoire of Knowledge sitting on its plinth close to their desk. Leather bound and embossed covers with metal clasps gave an elegance to its presence but hid the power within it. Later that morning my friend Laucian from the Healers would be called to check the pattern of a Rite Master who had centred a Rite around the book and found its power damaging.

The Pyramid

Venturing outside the ritual area I found myself drawn to a warm sunny spot outside my healers guild. I turned to look upon the small pyramid opposite, then back to glance within the guild. I could see Hilda and Crymson were already prepared for the day. Feeling a little guilty at not being there on time help I decided to sit in the sun and sketch the pyramid. I had a feeling I would be making up for my leisurely start to the day later in the afternoon.

The Lifemasters Fountain

My wanderings took me from the Tesseract back into the Healers Guild. There I met with my pack brother Soal and sister Freydis. We caught up on the events of the morning and relaxed in the shade of the guild as the morning sun grew in strength.

My attention was called by the fountain sitting quietly in the corner and as the discussions continued and the masters arrived for the days tasks I sketched the fountains form as I considered what events might hold for the day.

In Service to the Healers Guild

With the crowds beginning to arrive within the guild tent, I made my way over to the Healers Guild and made myself available for any duties they may have.

As discussions took place between masters and those at the desk I passed the quiet moments by reaching for the sketchbook and drawing down the healers symbol. Luckily the morning was quiet when it came to injuries and skirmishes with conversations and negotiations holding sway over the proceedings, and so the sketch spread to capture more of the scene behind the desk.

Within the Healers Guild

The afternoon brought storms, the sound of rain battering the guild tent brought a dramatic contrast to the morning. People took shelter & voices were raised to stand above the downpour drumming from above.
